The group led by Marina Marinkovic at the Institute of Theoretical Physics (ITP), at ETH Zürich invites applications for postdoctoral positions in computational physics with a focus on lattice gauge theories for autumn 2021. The initial appointment is for two years, with an opportunity of one year extension subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. We are flexible to accommodate an earlier start date as well. The research interests of the group include various aspects of computational physics and particle phenomenology investigated through the prism of lattice gauge theories (LGT), as well as interface of LGT with quantum information science and machine learning. Part of the group activities will be dedicated towards supporting the planned MUonE experiment at CERN. As an appointed postdoctoral researcher you are expected to contribute to the ongoing research projects of the High Performance Computational Physics Lab, manage your own academic research and administrative activities, adapt existing and develop new research methodologies, disseminate results at specialized workshops and conferences, and actively participate in the academic life of the Institute for Theoretical Physics at ETH Zürich. Candidates must have a PhD in theoretical physics, computer science or related fields at the time of the appointment and ideally should have experience in LGT and numerical simulations. Strong interest in quantum computing and/or AI will be highly valuable. To apply please submit a curriculum vitae, list of publications and statement of research interests and plans until 16 December 2020. Applications should be submitted electronically in a single pdf file via the on-line submission platform: https://jobs.itp.phys.ethz.ch/postdoc/ . Please also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be written on your behalf. Referees will be asked to upload the letters following your application. ETH Zurich is an equal opportunity and family friendly employer. ETH Zurich invests in programs which support students, doctoral students, postdocs and other young female scientists in their career development. All candidates will be evaluated based on their merits and qualifications, without regard to gender, sexual orientation, race, age, religion, disability etc. Candidates from underrepresented and traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply.
